I think the biggest news to come Mohawk/Capitol way was learning from State Ed that Philip Seymour Hoffman, Academy Award winner for best actor, met the nominated director & screenwriter (Bennett Miller & Dan Futterman) for Capote as students atttending the NYS Summer School of the Arts School of Theatre in 1984, which was then held at Skidmore in our region. Hoffman came from the Rochester area, Genesee Valley Region, the other two from Mamaroneck HS, Hudson Valley Region, and were taught by John Fredricksen. Whatever artistic links they made, really lasted. You just never know who we as teachers and coaches may touch or what lives might be transformed!
