Amy Martin is the Choral Director at FD Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, NY. Mrs. Martin holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal music from Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY and received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at SUNY Plattsburgh. She has taught vocal music and directed the high school spring musical in Saranac Central Schools before moving to the Hudson Valley. She taught chorus for seven years at Haviland Middle School, also in Hyde Park. There, she directed Seussical, Jr. and Cats, and served as music director for several other productions. Mrs. Martin has performed with many theater companies throughout the state, and made her Off Broadway debut in "The Events" at New York Theater Workshop. She sings with several area groups, including Olive Jazz Choir and Ars Choralis, with whom she is frequently a soloist. Mrs. Martin debuted the role of Mary in the opera Miracle in Bethlehem, written by Johanna Hall and Barbara Pickhardt. She has performed at Carnegie Hall as well as in several countries. She has served as director, music director, stage manager, costumer, and choreographer for many productions in both musical theater and dramatic settings in schools and community theaters. Mrs. Martin is passionate about providing opportunities for people to grow through theater.
