Theatre transforms lives, and all children should have access to theatre education. Towards these ends and over many years, NYSTEA has succeeded in requiring Theatre Teacher Certification, helped create the certification exams, compelled the addition of performance credits for graduation, and more.

NYSTEA continues to be the primary Theatre Education advocacy organization in New York State, working in alliance with other arts education organizations and helping to write the new State Education Standards for Theatre. Go to our Advocacy page for helpful information!
